CONGRESS
Beginning in 2004, the structure of ACSM was changed from one in which individuals were members of ACSM, and participated within their chosen interest group to one in which individuals are members of one of the four independently incorporated Member Organizations. The exception to this structure is that student members pay membership fees to ACSM, but are considered members of each of the four Member Organizations.
The non-governing ACSM Congress is comprised of two delegates and one alternate representing each of the Member Organizations. The Congress also includes non-voting delegates representing Associate Organizations (currently the NSPS Foundation, Inc. and the Council of Sections). The Congress administers the activities that the Member Organizations have chosen to pursue collectively.
During its July 13, 2011 meeting, the ACSM Congress voted to disband, and turn over administrative and financial control of ACSM to NSPS.
